The Rep. legislators are right- the voting public does make horribly uniformed
choices- just look at who they have elected in terms of the majority in the
state leg.- proof positive that the ignorant masses cannot be trusted to vote-
philospoher kings are the way to go- ohh wait that is exactly what the leg. have
said- if we are not informed enough to sign a petition then what must they think
about us on a whole host of things- do they fail to see the ignorance in their
own positions- very sad
It looks like Sen. McAdams tried, unsuccessfully, to change the outrageous
provision of this bill that allows signatures to be removed AFTER the deadline
for collecting signatures. Think about it--how would the sponsors of a drive
EVER know when they had enough signatures in a county if 10 or 20 or 50 percent
of the signatories could simply remove their names after it is too late to
replace them? Can't see any potential for abuse here, can you?
I am one of the signature gatherers and I have never bamboozled, forced or
coerced anyone into signing. They usually sign after reading YET AGAIN another
example of unethical behavior from one or more of our infamous legislators.
So we the voters are too stupid to read and understand the initiative petition
before we sign it? Thanks, Republicans, for the compliment. For
years and years, the vast majority of Utahns have been begging for meaningful
ethics reform, and the Legislature has blown us off every time. Believe me, we
know what we're doing when we sign the initiative for real reform. And we
aren't "bamboozled" one bit by your phony ethics bill, either.
Ditto "Politics at Its Worst". A good example of why the politicians need to be
voted out. That's the only message they get.
