The Utah Jazz are usually fairly careful about their money. In a smaller national market like Salt Lake City, they have to be. But that doesn't mean they haven't overpaid some players in the past (Andrei Kirilenko and Greg Ostertag spring to mind, among others). Southern Utah University economics professor Dave Berri and CNBC have teamed up to detail the current 10 most overpaid players in the NBA. And while none of these 10 play for the Jazz (currently), you'll still see some familiar faces. Check out the list, and visit CNBC to see more of Berri's analysis.

10 Tyrus Thomas

Team: Charlotte Bobcats
Minutes played: 1,013
Salary: $7,305,785

Dave Berri says: "Although Thomas didn’t get paid as much as many players on this list, his productivity was so low he cost the Bobcats a large sum of money."

6 Mehmet Okur

Team: Brooklyn Nets
Minutes played: 453
Salary: $10,890,000

5 Chris Kaman

Team: New Orleans Hornets
Minutes played: 1,372
Salary: $12,200,000

Dave Berri says: "Although he is capable of launching shots at the basket, he isn’t very good at getting the shots to go in. Plus he isn’t a great rebounder. And that means he is very much overpaid."

Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Minutes played: 2,151
