There were some great individual and team efforts across the state for the eighth week of the prep football season. Here are five of the top prep performances for the week:

5 Maurice Mapps Jr., 5-7, 185, RB, Skyline HS

Mapps Jr. ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 carries in Skyline's 24-6 win over Westlake. More importantly, he helped secure the 300th career victory for coach Roger DuPaix.

4 Francis Bernard, 6-3, 195, RB, Herriman HS

Bernard ran for 141 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries in Herriman's 49-0 win over Murray. Almost all of his work was done in the first half in the blowout win.

3 Braxton Peterson, 5-10, 185, QB, Pine View HS

Peterson scored Pine View's first five touchdowns in its 49-0 rout over Canyon View. He ran the ball 17 times for 176 yards while adding 5-7 for 116 yards through the air.

2 Bryan Engstrom, 5-9, 175, RB, Alta HS
Jeffrey D. Allred, Deseret News

Engstrom scored four touchdowns including a 75 yard kickoff return in Alta's 51-0 win over Copper Hills. He also ran the ball seven times for 69 yards and caught two passes for 32 yards.

1 Steve Bate, 5-10, 185, QB, Springville HS

Bate went 18-25 for 407 yards and six touchdowns in Springville's 40-0 win over Provo.
