ATTENTION DEFICIT

Following Nicholas Mahut’s first-round loss in the French Open, a reporter began the press conference by saying, “Congratulations.”

"Congratulations?” Mahut said. “I lost.”

Reporter: “You lost? OK. So what happened out there?”

Mahut: “Are you serious? Did you watch the match?”

Reporter: “No, I didn’t. I was told that you won. I’m sorry.”

Mahut (awkward pause): “Questions in French, please.”

Rock On suggests the reporter skip any of Gregg Popovich’s playoff press conferences.

BYU fans got a jolt of excitement, then a wave of disappointment, Friday, when rumors circulated that the Cougars would be joining the Big 12.

“It appears our account has been hacked,” it said on KSL Sports’ Twitter feed. “BYU is not joining the Big 12, at least not that we’ve heard of. Sorry for the confusion.”

Not that conference realignment has ever been confusing.

The Indiana Pacers did some serious (read: expensive) talking during this year’s Eastern Conference finals.

Paul George, for example, was fined $25,000 for calling the officiating in Miami “home cooking.”

But at those prices, shouldn’t it really be called “eating out?”

An E-Poll Market Research study says Donald Sterling is the most unpopular man in America.

The ex-Clippers owner outdistanced, in order, Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, O.J. Simpson, Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray and Justin Bieber.

Rock On thinks there should be a place in this poll for whoever invented the term “selfie.”

The University of Nebraska is looking for a president, and governor Dave Heineman says he wants the job.

This naturally opens the door for Utah governor Gary Herbert to apply for the position of Utah Jazz head coach.

Varner, a former BYU soccer player, is now on the roster at Ohio State.

So when is the wedding date and where do they plan to honeymoon?

Clown questions, bro.

CLUB PLAY
KREM Spokane screen grab

An 89-year-old woman in Moses Lake, Washington, prevented her convenience store from being robbed by fending off the suspect with a golf club.

Reports say Miyo Koba was pushed to the ground by the intruder, but she prevailed by smacking his legs with the club.

Otherwise known as the “Elin Nordegren maneuver.”
