The game was Steve Young's first as a starting quarterback at BYU, subbing in for the injured Jim McMahon. The game was tied three times before linebacker Todd Shell returned an intercepted pass for the game-winning score.

Utah State scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first half and never looked back. It was a big upset for the Aggies, as BYU was looking to take control of the in-state series with three straight wins.

The game went back and forth before Will Snowden ran the ball in from two yards out for the game-winning touchdown. BYU overcame a 24-10 first-half deficit in securing the victory.

Records were set with Jim McMahon leading the Cougar offense to 710 total yards to go along with its 70 points. The teams combined for 1,160 yards of total offense in a game that was televised regionally by ABC.

4 2010: Utah State 31, BYU 16

Utah State snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Cougars in a game defined by dropped passes and turnovers. Aggie fans rushed the field and partied into the night following their decisive victory over the Cougars.

BYU used a 33-yard field goal by Owen Pochman in overtime to secure the victory. The Aggies scored 11 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to send it to OT before falling just short of the victory.

2 2002: BYU 35 Utah State 34

After falling behind 34-7, BYU scored 28 unanswered points to secure the win. It was the coming-out game for BYU running back Curtis Brown, who had 217 yards rushing.

The teams combined for an incredible 49 points in the fourth quarter to close out one of the craziest games ever played. The teams combined for 1,318 yards of total offense to go along with their 114 combined points, in what was one of most productive offensive outputs for a game in NCAA history.
