It has been seven months since the Baltimore Ravens claimed victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Thankfully the NFL finally returns this week as the regular season gets under way Thursday.

As you watch this season you will likely be reminded of all the great athletes that once played in Utah. From the recent draft picks like Ezekiel Ansah and Brad Sorenson, to the seasoned veterans such as Jarrett Bush and Steve Smith.

Many players with ties to the state of Utah have earned their spots on NFL rosters. Here's a rundown of all of them

Ezekiel Ansah

Detroit Lions

Defensive End

BYU

Ansah, a rookie, is expected to start at one of the two defensive end positions for the Lions. Ansah was the No. 5 pick overall by the Lions in the 2013 NFL draft and played very well in the preseason.

Matt Asiata

Minnesota Vikings

Running Back

Utah and Hunter High

Asiata played a key role at fullback last season and is expected to repeat that role this year.

Zane Beadles

Denver Broncos

Offensive Guard

Utah

Beadles will enter his fourth season playing for the Broncos and is expected to start at offensive guard.

Brandon Burton

Buffalo Bills

Cornerback

Utah

Burton didn't see much playing time during his stretch with the Minnesota Vikings. The sixth cornerback on the Bills' 53-man roster, Burton is most likely to see time on special teams.

Jarrett Bush

Green Bay Packers

Defensive back

Utah State

Bush enters his ninth season in the NFL and is expected to play a big role in the Packer secondary this season.

Will Davis

Miami Dolphins

Cornerback

Utah State

Davis turned a lot of heads in the preseason by creating a lot of turnovers, and it has paid off. Don't expect to see him soon though — an apparent leg injury has sidelined him for now.

John Denney

Miami Dolphins

Deep snapper

BYU

Denney enters his ninth season as Miami's deep snapper.

Hebron Fangupo

Pittsburgh Steelers

Defensive lineman

BYU

Fangupo made the roster for the Steelers after being cut by the Houston Texans last season.

Jordan Gross

Carolina Panthers

Offensive tackle

Utah

Gross will begin his 11th season in the league and is expected to start at left tackle. Gross is considered one of the top offensive tackles in the NFL.

Bryan Kehl

Washington Redskins

Linebacker

BYU and Brighton High

Kehl made the Redskins roster and will play on special teams and at outside linebacker.

Brett Keisel

Defensive lineman

BYU

Keisel has been a mainstay along the Steeler defensive front and is expected to start again this season. He's had 11 successful seasons in the NFL.

Joe Kruger

Philadelphia Eagles

Defensive end

Utah and Pleasant Grove High

Kruger made the roster after being drafted in the seventh round. He'll be a backup at defensive end as a rookie.

Paul Kruger

Cleveland Browns

Linebacker

Utah and Timpanogos High

Kruger scored a huge free agent contract in the offseason and will play a big role in Cleveland's defense. Kruger will likely start at outside linebacker this season.

Star Lotulelei

Carolina Panthers

Defensive lineman

Utah and Bingham High

Lotulelei had a successful preseason and is expected to start at defensive tackle for the Panthers. Lotulelei was the No. 14 pick by Carolina in the NFL draft last April.

McQuistan enters his eighth season playing at offensive guard for the Seahawks.

Koa Misi

Miami Dolphins

Linebacker

Utah

Misi had a big season for the Dolphins and is expected to start at outside linebacker. He was one of the team's leading playmakers last year.

Haloti Ngata

Baltimore Ravens

Defensive lineman

Highland High

Ngata battled through injuries last season, but is expected to start at nose tackle for the Ravens. Ngata is considered as one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL.

Stephen Paea

Chicago Bears

Defensive lineman

Timpview High and Snow College

Paea enters his third season playing at defensive tackle for the Bears. He's expected to play primarily as a backup.

Donald Penn

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Offensive tackle

Utah State

Penn enters his eighth season and is expected to start at tackle for the Bucs.

Dennis Pitta

Baltimore Ravens

Tight end

BYU

Pitta sustained a hip injury in July that landed him on the team's injured reserve list. He'll be eligible to come off the list in Week 9, but it's unlikely he'll be healthy enough to participate at that time. A late November or early December return is anticipated.

David Reed

Indianapolis Colts

Wide receiver

Utah

Reed was traded to the Colts after spending three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

Caleb Schlauderaff

New York Jets

Offensive lineman

Utah

Schlauderaff enters his third year playing for the Jets.

Derrick Shelby

Miami Dolphins

Defensive lineman

Utah

Shelby begins his second season with the Dolphins.

Alex Smith

Kansas City Chiefs

Quarterback

Utah

Smith will start for the Chiefs after eight successful seasons with the 49ers. Smith will be a key part in trying to make new coach Andy Reid's offense successful.

Michael Smith

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Running back

Utah State

Smith will be used primarily as a kick returner for the Bucs. He is currently on the team's reserved/injured list.

Sean Smith

Kansas City Chiefs

Safety

Utah

Smith signed on with the Chiefs after playing four seasons with the Dolphins. He's expected to contribute at cornerback this season.

Steve Smith

Carolina Panthers

Wide receiver

Utah

Paul Soliai

Miami Dolphins
