PROVO — No. 5 BYU men’s cross-country will compete in the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Friday in Riverdale, Utah, with hopes to qualify for the NCAA National Championships next weekend.
“I feel good about regionals,” head coach Ed Eyestone said. “We need a solid performance. We need to run hard enough to qualify, but not so hard that we cause too much fatigue.”
The men’s race begins at noon MST. The meet is hosted by Weber State University.
The Cougars are coming off a dominant showing at the West Coast Conference Championships where they placed four runners in the top 10. BYU has won four of its five meets this season, taking second in a nationally-loaded field at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
If they qualify, the Cougars will head to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.
