SANDY — Canyons School District's Office of Special Education and Related Services is sponsoring a series of workshops on autism.
The workshops are taught by Melisa Genaux, a Salt Lake-based expert in the areas of autism spectrum disorders.
The six workshops, titled “Focus on Autism: Understanding High-Functioning Autism and Aspberger’s Syndrome,” will be from 4-7 p.m. in the Professional Development Center in the Canyons Support Services Center, 9361 S. 300 East.
The dates of the free workshops are Oct. 29, Dec. 4, Jan. 30, Feb. 27, March 19 and April 23.
Parents, patrons and employees are invited to attend. Genaux, a presenter and author, will speak on compliance and legal issues, social skills for children with autism spectrum disorders, and classroom management. It is recommended, but not necessary, to attend all the workshops.
