It is depressing and frustrating to witness the inept and discouraging way that Congress does its so-called business.
They spend maybe half of their time in session, if we are lucky. Those people have voted themselves a salary, plus perks, of $174,500 per year; yet they do nothing constructive. They dicker over "fiscal cliffs" and tax cuts, but not spending cuts. We can soon look forward to arguing about the "debt limit" again.
A good start to cutting spending would be to cut congressional pay, their exhorbitant pensions and other perks. And another good place to cut would be so-called "foreign aid" to those countries who don't like us, and have let us know that they would like to destroy us — along with Israel.
It is mind-boggling to think that we are willing to send billions of dollars to the Middle East to those countries who want to destroy us. Somehow, common sense, has been thrown out the window.
