SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah senior center Zane Taylor has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a senior in eligibility, playing for a Football Bowl Championship program, and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Taylor, a preseason all-Mountain West Conference selection, made the MWC second team as a junior and was honorable mention all-MWC in 2007.
Taylor is a MWC Scholar-Athlete and three-time academic all-conference selection who carries above a 3.50 GPA in health education. He has been involved heavily in the community in his hometown of Moab.
Utah has had a finalist for the award each of the past two seasons. All-America kicker/punter Louie Sakoda was a 2008 finalist, while All-America offensive tackle Zane Beadles was a 2009 finalist.
