CLEARFIELD — Investigators have identified a man who was killed Wednesday when he walked onto I-15.
Family members said Wesley Lokham, 23, had a history of mental illness and may have been suicidal, Utah Department of Public Safety spokesman Dwayne Baird said Thursday.
Lokham, a Clearfield resident, was on the off-ramp heading north to 700 South in Clearfield when a semitrailer truck heading in the same direction hit him in the right center lane about 10 p.m. Officials spent several hours Thursday morning working to identify Lokham, who was not carrying any identification.
"We still have a lot of questions we are working on at this point — why he was out here, that sort of thing. We have no idea," UHP Lt. Ed Michaud said Thursday morning.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
Traffic was restricted to one lane and tied up as officials responded to the scene Wednesday night.
