SALT LAKE CITY — The children of Utah's last National Guard unit deployed in Afghanistan were given teddy bears Monday, ready to record special messages from their parents.

The bears were presented at a party at the Utah Capitol through the Veterans of Foreign Wars' Operation Teddy Bear. Each bear came with a recorder that the child can use to record a call from his or her deployed parent.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes gave the kids a tour of the Capitol, and costumed members of the 501st Legion Alpine Garrison stopped by for a visit.
