"MOTHERHOOD REALIZED: An Inspiring Anthology for the Hardest Job You'll Ever Love," from Power of Moms, Familius, $15.95, 189 pages (nf)

"Motherhood Realized: An Inspiring Anthology for the Hardest Job You'll Ever Love" is an inspiring compilation of essays that have been gathered from the Power of Moms blog at powerofmoms.com and its Facebook group.

The premise is that by taking a look into the lives and stories of other mothers, the reader can "real-ize" motherhood by discussing the real parts of it and offering insights and advice. The book is composed of four sections — "Becoming Out Best Selves," "Getting Through Hard Times," "Shifting Our Perspectives" and "Savoring Moments" — with each containing 10 to 15 two- to five-page essays.

At the end of each essay is a question to help the reader reflect on her life and what was discussed in that particular essay and a challenge that encourages the reader to implement suggestions to improve relationships at home.

Topics in this book include helping mothers overcome struggles and weaknesses, getting through hard times, enjoying the journey, savoring moments and many other typical topics on raising children. It focuses on mothers who are in the throes of raising children — from little ones to teenagers and young adults.

"Motherhood Realized" is a quick, easy read that makes a great reference for times when a mother is struggling and needs a pick-me-up or a sense of unity with other mothers who may be experiencing the same struggles and trials. It encourages mothers and promotes positive and healthy family values.

The language is clean and there is no violence or sexual content.

Power of Moms co-founders and co-directors of the online community that reaches over a million mothers, Saren Eyre Loosli and April Perry, are both Utah residents.
