UTAH STATE PRISON — The lockdown at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison has been lifted.

But the Utah State Prison in Draper remained on lockdown Thursday, three days after a member of the Tongan Crip Gang on trial in federal court was shot and later died after rushing an inmate on the witness stand testifying against him.

Siale Angilau was shot multiple times in the chest by a U.S. marshal on Monday after investigators say he lunged at a man on the witness stand.

Hours later, the Utah Department of Corrections announced that the prisons in Draper and Gunnison were placed on lockdown to curb any potential retaliation.

Corrections officials announced Thursday that a few services and activities had been brought back online in Draper. Visitation at the prison, however, was still suspended.

The Salt Lake County Jail was also temporarily placed on lockdown on Monday, but the sheriff's office said it was for an incident unrelated to the courthouse shooting.
