Minimum wage may not be the only answer to solve income inequality.

Edward Glaeser, a columnist for The Boston Globe, recently wrote that government subsidies — where the government would give money to companies that are hiring low-wage workers — might be the best solution to solving the problems for those making minimum wage.

“Raising the minimum wage isn’t necessarily wrongheaded,” Glaeser wrote. “But if we want a better way to reduce inequality and raise earnings for the least fortunate Americans, targeted tax credits and government subsidies are a more creative, fair, and effective course.”
