LAYTON — Hardware store employee volunteers helped a veteran's family with their home improvement knowledge on Tuesday.

Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force, partnered with United Way of Northern Utah to transform the home of Air Force veteran Steve Tueller and his son Carson, who was paralyzed from the chest down in a trampoline accident. The improvements will make the home safer and easier to access for Carson.

Volunteers built a wheelchair ramp, widened two doorways and completely remodeled Carson’s bathroom. They also updated the home’s flooring in main traffic areas and his bedroom for wheelchair mobility, improving light fixtures, plumbing fixtures and counter top heights, and addressing other various safety concerns in the backyard.
