SALT LAKE CITY — A routine traffic stop resulted in a significant drug bust for the Utah Highway Patrol on Friday.

A UHP trooper patrolling I-80 noticed a pickup truck that had a camper shell obstructing the third brake light, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.

The trooper pulled the driver over and called for a drug K9 because the man was acting suspiciously, the report states. In the bed of the truck, the K9 located 200 pounds of marijuana.

Brent Mayhew, 49, of Massachusetts, was booked into jail for investigation of possession of more than 100 pounds of marijuana.

Last week, the Park City Police Department arrested a Wisconsin man after a routine traffic stop yielded more than 51 pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
