OGDEN — A longtime Weber County prosecutor died Friday from a brain aneurism.
William "Bill" Daines, 69, had served Weber County for more than three decades, according to a statement from Sheriff Terry Thompson. He described Daines as a prosecutor, mentor, teacher, leader, public servant and friend, among other things.
"He worked personally with members of the judicial system in Weber County and provided significant influence within the judicial community across the state of Utah," Thompson wrote on Facebook. He added that Daines was "a proven stalwart in providing for the safety and security of Weber County residents through dedicated and committed prosecution of violations of law that create order and security within our neighborhood and community."
According to Daines' obituary, he was married and had three children.
