MURRAY — A man accused of attempting to kill his live-in girlfriend was arrested over the weekend.
About 11:30 p.m. Friday, Murray police say Gary Dwaine Moon, 41, went into his girlfriend's bedroom at their apartment and hit her "in the face multiple times with the front and back of his hand and fist," and then cut "her arms and legs multiple times with a knife" before choking her unconscious, a Salt Lake County Jail report states.
Moon was arrested the next day and booked into jail for investigation of attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault and other charges. Investigators believed alcohol was a factor. Police say the incident began as a small domestic argument.
The cuts to the victim were reported to be minor, according to police. The woman was treated at St. Mark's Hospital and later released.
