SALT LAKE CITY — Officials are investigating an incident at the airport involving a collision between an airport truck and a parked cargo plane.
Around 6:20 p.m., the driver of a service truck collided with the wing of a parked cargo jet on the east side of the airfield, Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said. The wing of the plane went through the windshield of the truck, injuring the driver.
He was transported to a local hospital. Gann did not know the extent of his injuries.
Gann said both the aircraft and the truck were significantly damaged in the incident. No one was on the airplane at the time and the incident did not impact air traffic or any passengers.
The incident remains under investigation, but Gann said it does not appear that the fog in the area at the time was a factor in the crash.
