SALT LAKE CITY — Utah on Friday joined in a nationwide effort to remember the victims of last Friday's tragic shootings in Connecticut.

The state Capitol observed a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Capitol bells ringing 26 times, one for each victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Bells then played "Angels We Have Heard on High," a favorite song of Emilie Parker, originally from Ogden, who was one of the victims.
