The Utah Food Bank received surplus bread product from corporate partners and opened up the distribution of the product to the general public on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

"After distributing every possible amount to our 129 statewide partner agencies and reaching out to food banks in other states, we still have surplus that we would like to open up to the general public before the product expires," said Ginette Bott, chief marketing officer for Utah Food Bank. "We want to ensure that this product goes to people, rather than the landfill."

Utah Food Bank received five truckloads of product, which includes bread, hotdog buns, hamburger buns and English muffins.
