ROY — IASIS Healthcare's Davis Hospital and Medical Center plans to build a $11.4-million, freestanding emergency department in the city of Roy. The 16,000 square-foot facility is expected to open in early summer.
"Freestanding emergency departments are an innovative concept in the delivery of emergent health care services to the local community with the backup and support of a nearby full service acute care hospital," said Mike Jensen, CEO of Davis Hospital and Medical Center.
The emergency department will feature 14 beds, advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities and a laboratory. The aim is to help as many patients as possible in a timely manner, with bedside registration, quick evaluation and fast-tracking those with less serious medical needs.
It will serve the more than 129,000 people who live within a 5-mile radius of Roy, as well as others in western Weber County. A groundbreaking will be held at the building site, at 3451 W. 5600 South, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. The public is welcome to attend.
