PAGE, Ariz. — The body of an Arizona man was recovered Wednesday from Lake Powell's Padre Canyon, ending an almost three-week search.
John Borden, 58, of Scottsdale, Ariz., went missing on Lake Powell on Sept. 24 attempting to catch a drifting houseboat that had been pushed offshore in a windstorm, police said.
Borden boarded a jet ski with another individual in pursuit of the houseboat and jumped into the water when the vehicle's kill-switch lanyard fell into the waves. Neither rider was wearing a life jacket.
Borden's body was recovered at a depth of 100 feet and was located using a remote operated vehicle equipped with sonar and video equipment. Members of the Utah Highway Patrol Dive Team, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Kane County Sheriff’s Office participated in the search.
Borden went missing three days after Salt Lake City man Pejman Pourhassan, whose body was recovered Oct. 4. The search for Pourhassan lasted 13 days.
