SALT LAKE CITY — Provo Craft on Tuesday hosted a hands-on crafting event for patients at Primary Children's Medical Center to help them make Halloween masks using the Cricut Mini cutting machine.

Arts and crafts is a reassuring and orienting experience that helps kids cope with the challenges often associated with long-term hospital care, according to Holly Moss-Rosen, certified child life specialist. Crafting projects help kids express their creativity, and gives a sense of control and choice in an unfamiliar environment.
