Usuia Tailele Alofipo, age 90, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peace-fully at her daughter's home Jan. 9, 2000.
She was born Dec. 2, 1909 to Tailele Maiava Leota and Laulauga Tufele of Fitiuta, Manua, American Samoa. She married Toso Alofipo Jan. 1927 and were sealed for time and all eternity Dec. 1965 at the Auckland Temple in New Zealand. He preceded her in death.She is survived by nine of her 10 children: her sons, Malaeaimi, Kalisi, Saolotoga and their spouses; daughters, Mae Morgan, Polili Heath, Simaima Uluave, Laulauga McCarthy, Francella Tupea, Lillian Fehoko and their spouses; foster children, Telefoni Aumua and Isapela Freeman; 62 grandchilden, 128 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She has spent most of her life serving the LDS Church alongside her husband during the pioneer stage of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in American and Western Samoa.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 17, 2000 at the Granger West 5th Ward, 3300 South 4440 West, under the direction of Memorial Estates Mortuary. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church before services. Interment will be in Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery (6500 S. Redwood Rd.)
