PHOENIX — An 86-year-old New Mexico man who survived days in the Arizona mountains but lost his wife has been released from an Arizona hospital.

Dana Davis' daughter tells The Associated Press that her father left the hospital in Globe on Saturday. Lani Sexton says doctors want her father to rest for a couple of days before flying home to Albuquerque, so they're staying with his nephew in the Phoenix suburb of Chandler.

Dana Davis and 82-year-old Elizabeth "Betty" Davis left Chandler on Dec. 1 to drive home. They took a wrong turn and tried a forest road as a shortcut but their car broke down. After being stuck for five days they decided to walk out.

Betty Davis collapsed and died. Dana Davis walked for two days before being rescued Wednesday.
