SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State men's basketball coach Stew Morrill says tentative plans call for his team to open next season at home against BYU and the following season on the road against the Cougars.

Morrill says it is important the men's basketball series be continued. He made the comments during his weekly conference call Tuesday.

He says nothing has been finalized but indicates he and BYU coach Dave Rose are committed to continuing the instate matchup.

BYU (24-2) is ranked No. 7 in the current AP Top 25 rankings while Utah State (23-3) fell to No. 25 after a loss at Idaho. BYU beat the Aggies, 78-72, in Provo on Nov. 17.

The Cougars join the West Coast Conference in basketball next season. Utah State is in the Western Athletic Conference.
