SALT LAKE CITY — The Jazz plan to sign rookie first-round draft choice Gordon Hayward to his first NBA contract this morning, general manager Kevin O'Connor said by phone Wednesday night.

O'Connor said Hayward will sign his deal before practice Thursday morning in Orlando, where the Jazz are holding training camp for rookies, free agents and youngsters before next week's Orlando Pro Summer League.

The contract will be guaranteed for two seasons, and — standard for all rookie contracts — includes separate team options for seasons 3 and 4.

It's believed his salary will be $2,356,320 next season and $2,532,960 for 2011-12, a guaranteed total of nearly $4.9 million over two years, based on permitted 20 percent raises above slotted rookie scale.

Hayward, a 20-year-old swingman from Butler University, went No. 9 overall in last Thursday's draft.
