CEDAR CITY — Southern Utah surrendered 22 offensive rebounds, leading to 22 second-chance points for Oakland as the Thunderbirds suffered a 68-52 defeat on Monday night.
SUU (6-19 overall, 4-10 in Summit League play) opened the first half by stretching the floor and running at every opportunity, using the runs to build a 12-8 lead 5 minutes into the game. However, a scoring lull by the T-Birds over the next five minutes led to a 12-0 run by Oakland, leaving the score at 20-12 in OU's favor.
Southern Utah was led in scoring and rebounding by Challis Pascucci, who had 15 points and seven rebounds. SUU will embark on its final road trip of the season this weekend when the Thunderbirds face IUPUI and Western Illinois.
