Helen Isabel Hunter Alldredge 1913 ~ 2006 Helen Isabel Hunter Alldredge, 93, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and adored friend passed away peacefully September 28, 2006 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born June 1, 1913, the youngest of seven children, to Daniel and Mary Weir Calderwood Hunter. Her mother was 45 and her father 59 at the time of her birth. She lived all of her life in Salt Lake City, Utah and always revered her Scottish heritage. She graduated from LDS High School at the age of 16. She married O. Claron Alldredge July 3, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple prior to his departure for an LDS mission to South Africa. Six of the first nine years of their marriage were spent apart as Claron served on his mission and in the U.S. Navy. Their loyalty and love for each other throughout their lives have been a constant beacon to their family. Helen was a valiant member of the LDS Church serving faithfully and with great love in all the auxiliaries. Her many years of service will be remembered by countless numbers of people. She served on the Primary General Board when she and her committee members created the CTR (Choose The Right) class name and wrote the original CTR lesson manual. Helen also designed the CTR shield logo. At the time of her death she was still serving as a visiting teacher and was a stalwart member of the DUP. Helen's motto was, "If you are not happy with your lot in life, build a service station on it." She showered her family and everyone around her with unconditional Christ-like love that knew no bounds. She will be greatly missed. Helen was a shining light to all who knew her. We rejoice as she joins her beloved Claron, who preceded her in death April 19, 2000, and other treasured family members. Helen was "true to the faith that her parents cherished, true to the truths for which martyrs perished, to God's command, soul, heart, and hand, faithful and true she will ever stand."
